Similar to popular fashion design shows, our “Recycled Runway” challenges teams to create a stunning outfit made entirely of recycled/reused materials! One special member from each team will even act as a model and showcase their garments on the catwalk!

The Details
How It Works
The Inspiration Auction
- Teams will begin with $20 fake cash and a “Studio Kit” that has all the basic supplies they’ll need to design a unique creation! When the auction begins, teams will have the opportunity to bid for the Design Inspiration of their choice. (Ex: 80’s, Outer Space, Under the Sea, etc.) After all teams have received an inspiration, bids will open for an exclusive collection of fabrics + materials.
- Opportunities to spend the rest of their cash buying specialty items at our “Craft Shop” will be available throughout the design phase of the competition.
The Design Phase
- After taking inventory of their initial supplies, teams will spend time brainstorming and sketching out ideas on the perfect creation for their theme. When final design decisions have been made and a model has been chosen, they can get straight to crafting their outfits.
- As the group gets started on construction, the “Craft Shop” will open, so team shoppers can acquire some unique items to really make their designs stand out!
- Teams will work together to transform their strange arrangement of recycled materials and household objects into a “Haute Couture” masterpiece!
It’s Showtime!
Cue the lights and music… it is time to hit the catwalk! Team models will be accompanied by a team spokesperson to describe the featured details of the design as models strut their stuff on stage.
